Merle's service can be lived streamed at https://my.gather.app/remember/donnie-merle-jones Donnie Merle Jones, Jr. (Merle) passed away on Friday, October 21st at his home with his daughters, Alicia and Kalea, and dogs Tucker and Read Obituary

Merle was always one to get you to argue with him. He loved to tease me about my politics. Growing up in Plano was the best time. Merle always came to my class reunions in Seymour, because he ran around with so many of my classmates of 1977. He will be missed greatly, he inspired so many players in softball and just being his friend. I wish I could be in Iowa for the services, but since I am in AZ I will zoom in. Thank you to the family for making this possible. I am sending hugs and prayers to the Jones family. Until we meet again, Merle keep our Dads in Heaven in line.
Love,
Cindy Housh
I'm very saddened to hear we've lost my childhood best friend. I can't begin to count the hours of good times we had growing up together in Plano whether it was whiffle ball, football, basketball or just hanging out. There was only one "Merle" and he certainly was larger than life. I know many in the community knew Merle or knew of him but I'm sure not all knew how big his heart was. He and I had many talks growing up and, unfortunately for me, fewer talks in the years since. I did speak with him a few weeks ago and I know that big heart was still there. He will certainly be missed and I know his passing leaves a hole in my heart and in the heart of your family and community.
Unfortunately it is an abrupt reminder that we're all just passing through. I pray God's peace and comfort are yours during this painful and difficult time.
We are thinking of you during this difficult time. Merle was a great friend and colleague. We will always remember him.
Condolences from the Heath Family! Merle and I had many conversations about softball over the years! Fond memories about our friendship! RIP Merle and may God Bless All of You!
We will miss you cousin.Love- The Hillyards

Never a dull moment, working with Merle. He sure helped in making the Learning Connections an interesting experience for staff and students alike
One of a kind and that is a very good thing! A coaches' coach! May he rest in peace, and our sincere condolences to Merle's family!
