Donnel Logsdon's Obituary
Donnel Logsdon, age 90 of Cincinnati, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his home.
Donnel was born on May 1, 1926 in Livonia, Missouri, the son of John and Alpha (Johnson) Logsdon. Donnel entered the United States Army on August 12, 1944. He was honorably discharged on August 26, 1946. On May 1, 1947, Donnel was united in marriage to Leona Heyl. From this union, five children were born, Evelee, Leatha, Annette, Mark and Timothy.
Donnel served in ministry for many years. He was pastor at the Mendota Church in Mendota, Missouri for six years. He then opened the Cincinnati Community Church, where he was the pastor for more than thirty years. He had a great love for people, and he felt privileged to minister to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of those in the community and in nearby communities.
Donnel and Leona lived for many years on their 160-acre farm southwest of Cincinnati. The farm included row crop, hay, and a dairy farm.
Donnel truly was a "Jack Of All Trades." Along with farming, he worked in the mines, rock quarries, and even raised dogs.
Donnel wanted to be "a servant to all people," as he put it. He loved children, including the many years he taught youth Bible school. He enjoyed singing songs to the kids and grandchildren. Furthermore, he enjoyed giving many children a variety of nicknames throughout the years. Donnel also loved playing the harmonica, as well as gardening, hunting and fishing.
Donnel is survived by four children, Evelee Prokes of Cincinnati, Iowa, Leatha (Mark) Walsh of Omaha, Missouri, Annette (Brett) Sinclair of Exline, Iowa, and Timothy (Susan) Logsdon of Chariton, Iowa; a brother, Nova Logsdon of Des Moines, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Logsdon; son, Mark Logsdon; grandson, Robert Lee Exline; four brothers, Vaughn Logsdon, Vern Logsdon, Bert Logsdon, and Glen Logsdon; his twin sister, Dorothy Van Blaricom; and two sons-in-law, Jerome Prokes, and Billy Parham.
