Donna Marie Starr's Obituary
Donna Marie Starr, age 60, of Osceola, Iowa and a former Centerville, Iowa, resident, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Willard 'Bill' and Marilyn (Morrison) Brookhart on April 28, 1955 in Centerville, Iowa. She attended Centerville Community Schools.On May 14, 1972, Donna was united in marriage to Michael 'Mt.Dew' Starr in Unionville, Iowa. She was a stay at home mom for awhile, then she worked as a housekeeper at People's State Bank in Albia, Iowa. Then later worked for Pat Breeding and Tammy Wilson for their Daycare and for over nine years, was a housekeeper at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville until her health would not permit working.She enjoyed playing bingo, cleaning, spending time with her family and friends, camping, bonfires and cookouts, and above all, spoiling her grandchildren.She was preceded in death by: her parents; Willard and Marilyn Brookhart, husband, Mike Starr and brothers, Billy Wayne Brookhart and Michael Leo Brookhart, and brother-in-law, Milton Sumpter. Donna is survived by: her life partner of 25 years, Tom O'Connell of Osceola, Iowa; her sons, Steven Starr and his wife, Christie of Centerville, Iowa and Michael Ray Starr and fianc, Marnie of Lovilia, Iowa; a daughter, Jennifer Fry and her husband, Matthew of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, William DeWayne Brookhart and his wife, Shelly of Centerville, Iowa; sisters, MaryLou Strickler of Centerville, Iowa and Rebecca Crane and her husband, Lenny of Centerville, Iowa; grandchildren, Shelby Rethman of Centerville, Iowa, Kassi Ward of Lovilia, Iowa, Kaeli Martinez of Centerville, Iowa, Kenzi Gullion of Lovilia, Iowa, Alex Starr of Centerville, Iowa, Destinee Fry of Des Moines, Iowa, Michael Ray Starr, Jr of Centerville, Iowa, Zavrie Fry of Des Moines, Iowa; and a great grandchild, Nova Benesh of Centerville, Iowa.Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Mark Waits officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm.
