Donna Polson's Obituary
Donna Polson, age 85, of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on August 22, 1922 in Plano, Iowa the daughter of LeRoy and Lela (Samuelson) Harris. She graduated from Plano High School in 1939 and went on to attend Centerville Community College and Drake University in Des Moines.Donna was joined in union to LaVern Whitaker, with whom she had two sons; Larry Whitaker and William Whitaker; and two daughters; Marilyn Whitaker and Barbara Whitaker. Later in life, she wed Don Wells and Clifford Thomas. On July 27, 2007 Donna was married to Robert Polson in Centerville, Iowa. She worked at Iowa Southern Utilities as a clerk and would later work for the Daily Iowegian and Ottumwa Courier. She was a member of the People's Baptist Church in Centerville.She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; LaVern Whitaker, Don Wells, and Clifford Thomas; brother Robert Harris and sister Mary Lou Harris.Donna is survived by her husband Robert Polson; sons; Larry Whitaker and his wife, Winona of Centerville, Iowa and William Whitaker and his wife, Rhonda of Centerville, Iowa; daughters; Marilyn Whitaker of Albia and Barbara Whitaker-Clinch and husband, Philip of Geneva, Switzerland; sister, Loris Dudley of Marshall, Missouri and a cousin who was raised with her Joann Glenn of Plano, Iowa; and five grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 10:30 AM at People's Baptist Church in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. David Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the Crossroads cemetery near Plano, Iowa.
