Donna Lue Long's Obituary
Donna Lue Long, 82, of Corydon, passed away on July 10, 2017 at a local care facility. Donna was born in Abilene, Kansas on March 6, 1935 to the late James and Ethel (Ike) Smith. After moving to Iowa and attending Seymour High School, Donna Lue was united in marriage to Allen Long on March 15, 1953 at the Seymour United Methodist Church and to this union, five children were born. Donna Lue enjoyed helping her husband on their farm. She enjoyed being a farmer's wife and devoting her time to raising their children. She always looked forward to her Friday morning hair appointments, following the Iowa Hawkeyes and leading a 4-H group for several years. She was an avid sewer and often attended cattle shows and trapping conventions with her husband. Donna Lue is survived by her children: Shirley (Daniel) Peasley of Allerton, Linda (Tim) Glenn of Plano, Sharon (Rick) Hamilton of Chariton, Annette (Jeff Hammel) of Keokuk and Andy (Carol) Long of Hamilton; grandchildren: Tara, Cade, LeeAnn, Ray, Brock, Blake, Velvet, Jami, Jodi, Justin, Tony, Lindsy, Alicia, Kalea, Champ and Chanda; step grandchildren: Bret, Clinton, Melissa, Travis and Brendan as well as 32 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy (Ronnie) Banks of Seymour and her brother, Byron (Cheryl) Smith of Arkansas. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Allen in 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow the funeral in Southlawn Cemetery.
