Donna Hicks' Obituary
Donna L. Hicks, 62, of Promise City passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at her home. Donna was born to Kenneth & Betty (Kline) Bullard on August 13, 1951 in Washington, D.C. She received her education from Southern High School in 1970. Donna was united in marriage to G.W. Hicks on June 12, 1970. To this union were two children Gordon and Kristie. Donna was employed by Chaney Enterprises as a secretary/office manager. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for large gatherings. Donna was a huge Dallas Cowboys Fan and enjoyed gatherings for the games. Every Thanksgiving she would cook a feast of food for friends and family and watch the Cowboys Game. Donna was humorous by nature and enjoyed teasing people. She especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. Donna didn't need much but her family and friends. She truly was one of those people who enjoyed the Simple Way of living. Survivors include her husband, G.W. Hicks of Promise City, son, Gordon R. Hicks (Michelle) of Seymour, daughter, Kristie L. Proctor (James) of Rhoadesville, Virginia, five grandchildren, six siblings: Kenneth Lee Bullard Jr. (Darla) of North Beach, Maryland, Joyce Paddy (Tommy) of Rhoadesville, Virgina, Mary Redmon (Greg) of Unionville, Virginia, Walter Bullard of Ruckersville, Virginia, Helen Myers (Greg) of Unionville, Virginia and Betty Heath (Steve) of Unionville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents. A visitation will be held Monday, from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Funeral service will be held in Spruce Pine, North Carolina and will be handled by Webb Funeral Home (www.webbfh.com). Interment will be in Hicks Family Cemetery in Newland, North Carolina.
