Donald Walker's Obituary
Donald Charles Walker, 62, of Moravia and formerly of Des Moines, passed away on January 26, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on October 14, 1955 to Donald Ray and Charlene (Johnston) Walker in Ames, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Don worked as a union glazier, and then a head custodian at Ankeny School District before retirement. In his spare time, Don enjoyed wildlife and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a wonderful "green thumb" and loved planting flowers and growing plants. He also enjoyed listening to music from his extensive record collection and spending time with family and friends. This past summer, Don built his dream home at Sundown Lake near Moravia, Iowa. Don is survived by his sons: Carson and Kyle Walker; grandchildren: Madisen, Carson Jr. and Chase Walker; sister, Darci Devens; brother, David Walker and his mother, Charlene Walker. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray and his nephew, Adam Wagner. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa. Interment will immediately follow at Eaton Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa. Visitation will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa.
