Donald E. Ray's Obituary
Donald E. Ray, age 83, of Centerville, formerly of Boone, Iowa, and Melrose, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
Donald was born in Boone County, Iowa, on October 7, 1936, the son of Lloyd and Mildred (Craven) Ray. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Davis and to this union of marriage, three children were born, Michael, Rhonda and Michelle.
He was employed with Firestone Tire in Des Moines, Iowa, for thirty years. In his retirement, Donald enjoyed several hobbies, including fishing, hunting, and target shooting. Furthermore, he was a member of the Rathbun Co. Shooting Club.
Donald is survived by his two children, Mike (Susie) Ray of Ankeny, Iowa, and Shelly (Roger) Wisecup of Ankeny, Iowa; five grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Groomes of Oakdale, California, and special friend, Deena Hoffman of Centerville, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jacqueline Ray; a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Ray; a brother, Floyd Ray; and sisters, Dorothy Ricky, Mabel Toepher, and Betty Parsons.
According to Mr. Rays wishes, cremation has been accorded. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Lange Funeral Home and Crematory of Centerville has been entrusted with caring for the family. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
