Donald Parcel's Obituary
Donald Parcel age 65, of Moravia, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at his home.
Donald was born on January 27, 1956 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Thomas "Jack" Parcel and Joan Mary (Finch) Parcel. He graduated from Ottumwa High School with the Class of 1974. He furthered his education at William Penn University. On September 24, 1993, he was united in marriage to Rebecca "Becky" Powers, and to this union, two children were born, Aaron and Ashley.
Donald worked for Fareway in Ottumwa, and later in Centerville. He was a teachers aide/substitute teacher for special need students following college. He began at the Cardinal school district for a period of time as well as Council Bluffs, Moravia and Moulton. He then became a teachers aide/substitute for the Seymour Community School district and was loyal to them for many years.
Donald enjoyed cooking and baking. He loved music, especially the clarinet. He played the clarinet in the Centerville Municipal Band. Donald was also a member of the Dale Church in Centerville.
Left to honor Donalds memory are his wife, Becky Parcel of Seymour; his children, Aaron Parcel of Ottumwa and Ashley Parcel of Seymour; his brother, Dale (Wanda) Parcel of Grain Valley, Missouri; his aunt, Marge (Jim) Traxler of Centerville; an uncle, Stanley Finch of Missouri; as well as several extended family and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas "Jack" and Joan Parcel.
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Dale Church, north of Centerville with Pastor Gerald Campbell officiating. Memorials have been established to the Dale Church, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Parcel family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
