Donald R Norris' Obituary
Donald Richard Norris, age 89, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa. Donald was born in Centerville, Iowa, on November 16, 1936, the son of Hobart Elliott Norris and Lola Alice (Packard) Norris who preceded him in death.
When Donald was four years old, he moved with his family to a farm in Putnam County, Missouri, north of Midway. He continued to live in the farmhouse for 68 years before moving to Unionville in 2008. He attended grade school at Central City and graduated from Unionville High School in 1954. After graduation he spent some time in the wheat fields and expanded his cattle operation.
Donald was united in marriage to Donna Kay Loveless on November 25, 1962, in Hamilton, Missouri. They welcomed three children to this union.
Donald was known as a hard worker. Taking care of the farm and cattle was a priority for him. He continued to be actively involved with the cattle operation until just a few months prior to his passing.
Donald was involved with livestock his whole life. When he was young, he showed cattle and hogs in 4-H and FFA. He owned the Unionville Sale Barn with his brother Robert for a few years. After selling his interest in the barn, he ran a hog buying station in Unionville. He also had a livestock trucking business with Don Veirs hauling hogs and cattle. He was proud that he had attended auctioneer school.
Donald was an avid card player and was always up for a game of cards. His love of cards earned him the CB handle of "Blackjack". He enjoyed coon hunting in his younger days. Donald served as a Putnam County Commissioner and was a member of the PC Cattlemen's Association. He was a Royal Arch Mason and was actively involved with the Moila Shriners in the past.
Donald is survived by his daughter Paula Kay McCormack and her husband Dwaine, his two sons Richard Douglas Norris and wife Carla and Jeffery "Toby" Scott Norris all of Unionville, MO. His grandchildren are Brant McCormack and Amy Andrews and her husband Shelton. Donald's great-grandchildren are Bentley McCormack, Bray McCormack, Brixtyn Andrews and Britlee Andrews. He is also survived by sister-in-law Carolyn Downey of Gallatin, MO as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Donna, his two brothers Howard Norris and Robert Norris and sister Charlene Griswold.
