Donald McCannon's Obituary
Donald McCannon, age 86, of Cincinnati, Iowa, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at VA Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa. He was born the son of Guy and Minnie (Noble) McCannon on May 11, 1921 in Numa, Iowa. He graduated from the Cincinnati Community Schools in Cincinnati, Iowa in 1939.Donald was engaged in farming near Dean, Iowa before he began serving his Country during WWII with the US Army until his honorable discharge on April 27, 1947. He was an Auto mechanic, a race car owner and driver and a truck driver. He also was a farmer in the Cincinnati and Numa, Iowa area. Donald married Mary Wright, however they would later Divorced and he was united in marriage to Nadine (Aldridge) Whitlock. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Prosperity Masonic Lodge both in Cincinnati, Iowa. One of Donald's greatest joys was repair and restoring Ford Model 'A's.He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Nadine McCannon in September of 2002 and his first wife, Mary (Wright) Correll on July 25, 2005.Donald was survived by: his daughter, Donna Ingram and her husband, Ron of Henderson, Nevada; stepsons, Dale Whitlock and his wife, Karen of Missouri and Terry Whitlock and his wife, Sherry of Arizona; step-daughter, Joan Kemper and her husband, Bill of Arizona; grandchildren, Brian Ingram of Henderson, Nevada, Christopher Ingram of Astoria, Oregon, Elizabeth Hemphill and Timothy Ingram both of Henderson, Nevada; four great grandchildrenFuneral services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Donnel Logsdon officiating and burial with full military honors given at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cincinnati, Iowa.
