Donald Arthur Loofbourrow's Obituary
Donald Arthur Loofbourrow, age 70 of Centerville, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Don was born on May 1, 1952, the son of Merle Frederick Loofbourrow and Helen Juanita (Link) Loofbourrow. Don was united in marriage to Janice Novotny, and together, they raised two children, Sara and Ryan.
Don worked as a dayshift operator and lab technician at Centerville Waterworks. In 1994, he continued his career at Iowa City Waterworks until his retirement in 2014. Don served communities for over 40 years purifying water. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, wrenching on things around the house, logic puzzles such as sudoku, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.
Left to honor Don's memory are his wife, Janice Loofbourrow; his children, Sara Novotny and Ryan Loofbourrow; a grandchild, Hazel Hershberger; his brother, David (Brenda) Loofbourrow; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Helen Loofbourrow; and a brother, Ronnie Loofbourrow.
Per Don's wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, March 20, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Christy Ehrle officiating. A luncheon will follow at Faith United Methodist Church on 23851 Highway 5, Centerville, Iowa 52544. A private burial will occur at Jerome Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, March 20, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 10:00-11:00AM. Memorials in honor of Don may be written to Jerome Cemetery and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Loofbourrow family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
