Donald P. Ewing's Obituary
Donald P. Ewing, age 85, of Unionville, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center's Long Term Care in Centerville. He was born the son of Claude M. and Carrie M. (Jones) Ewing on October 17, 1929 near Cincinnati, Iowa. He attended a rural Appanoose Country School. On June 1, 1952, Donald was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Cross in Unionville, Iowa. Donald was a Logger and Timber Buyer as well as a farmer in the Unionville, Iowa area for many years. He also owned some rental properties in Centerville, Iowa. He enjoyed hunting and training Coyote hounds and watching his Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball teams.He is preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Ruby M. Ewing on September 1, 2008; grandson, Chad Ewing; granddaughter, Jessica Ewing; sister, Ardyth Weldon; brothers, John, Ermal and Claude, Jr. Ewing.Donald is survived by: his sons, Paul Ewing and his wife, Darlene, David Ewing and his wife, Nancy all of Unionville, Iowa, Doyle Ewing and his wife, Barb of Plano, Iowa and Roger Ewing of Unionville, Missouri; daughters, Marlene Jellings and her husband, Ed of Ottumwa, Iowa and Susan Ewing of Unionville, Iowa; a brother, Larry Ewing of Cincinnati, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Roberta Powell of Unionville, Missouri; Twelve grandchildren and Twenty-six great grandchildren.A visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 5 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa. Burial will follow at a later date at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa.Memorials can be made to the Unionville Cemetery and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
