Donald Wayne Davison's Obituary
Donald Wayne Davison, age 74, of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville surrounded by his loved ones.
Donald was born on July 12, 1950 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Gerald Gene Davison and Evelyn Mae (Taylor) Davison. Growing up he spent many of his younger years on the farm near the Moulton and Seymour areas. After many years of farming the family moved to Centerville where Donald graduated with the Class of 1969.
After graduation Donald served his country faithfully in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1971. On March 18, 1972, Donald was united in marriage to Debbie Hudiburg, and to this union, three children were born, Deanna, Destry and Danielle.Following the Navy, Donald drove truck for several years before starting work at Easter's Super Valu. From there he was employed at Iowa Southern Utilities, where he eventually became a system truck driver for many years. After retirement Donald could not give up his love for trucking and continued to drive for Flywheel, Hetzler's, and RK Trucking.
In his free time, he enjoyed watching the Raiders, riding his Harley motorcycle, and taking yearly trips to Sturgis with friends. Moreover, he cherished every moment he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Left to honor Donald's memory are his wife of over 52 years, Debbie Davison; his children, Deanna (Bill) Moorman, Destry (Suzie) Davison, and Danielle (Ryan) Hodges; eight grandchildren, Garrett Moorman, Madi Moorman, Drennan Moorman, Presley Davison, Tage Davison, Kase Davison, Amelia Hodges, andLennox Hodges; his brother, Harold (Beth) Davison; as well as several extended family members and friends.Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Evelyn Davison, his brother, Jerald Davison, and his in-laws Gene and Gerry Hudiburg.
A Visitation will take place Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, starting at 1:00PM, with the family greeting friends from 3:00-5:00PM. Cremation will follow the service, and a private family burial will be held at Dale Cemetery, at a later date. Memorials in honor of Donald, have been established to either Furever Friends Rescue of Appanoose, Inc. or the Historic Preservation Corporation (HPC), and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Davison Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
