Donald Eugene Clark's Obituary
Donald Eugene Clark, age 83, of Centerville, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at Centerville Specialty Care.
Donald was born on December 13, 1940, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Robert and Helen (Nelson) Clark. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1959. Throughout high school, he was very active in football, 4-H, and FFA. After high school, Donald graduated from Indian Hills with his AA in 1971, then furthering his education more by obtaining a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1973.
Donald was united in marriage to Marilyn Jean Hoover on July 2, 1961. To this union two children were born, Robert and Donna. After graduating college, he was a teacher in the Moulton-Udell school district for two years, before he decided to quit teaching and continue farming on Marilyn's family centennial farm. Donald was one of the first farmers in Appanoose County to start no-till farming. He thoroughly enjoyed 4-H as a kid showing animals and exhibits, but also as an adult, leading groups and helping the kids when needed.
Left to honor Donald's memory are his wife, Marilyn Jean; daughter, Donna (Nyle) Cox; sister, Roberta (Hubert) Jones; grandchildren Ben (Kristi) Ritter, Shannon Ritter, Mitzi (Mike) Kinsler, David (Jess) Cox, Bailee Cox, Maddison Cox, Hunter Cox, and Britian (Brynn) Cox; great-grandchildren Shelbi and Peyton Ritter, Jesse (Haven) Wells, Chad Stice, Joseph Kinsler, Deacon, Drake and Jubilee Cox, Ryker Cardani, and Kyson Cox; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Donald was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Clark, a son Robert Ray Clark, an infant brother, and his in-laws Ray and Glenice Hoover.
Per wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11AM Monday, August 19, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 4-H Foundation, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Clark Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
