Donal L. Greer's Obituary
Donal L. Greer, age 87, of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Donal was born on November 14, 1930 in Sewal, Iowa, the son of Carl and Clara Greer. He was united in marriage to Leanna Cox on December 16, 1955. He proudly served his country in the Korean war with the United States Marine Corp.
Donal worked at Firestone in Des Moines for numerous years. He was a member of the American Legion in Centerville. He enjoyed fishing, and loved to mow his yard. Donal was fond of doing anything outdoors, and spending time with his family.
Donal is survived by his wife of 62 years, Leanna Greer; his children, Craig (Karol) Greer of Georgia, Shelly (Will) Johnson of Oregon, Jeff (Penny) Greer of New Virginia, Iowa, Mark (Melissa) Greer of Knoxville, Mike (Marietta) Gill of Mystic, and Duane (Leisel) Gill of Stillwater, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Clara Greer; and three siblings, Dwight Greer, Clell Greer and Max Greer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10AM, Friday, March 23, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Holly Oden officiating. Military rites will follow the service. A Memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
