Don Jay Hancox's Obituary
Don Jay Hancox, age 68, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at his home.
Don was born on September 30, 1954 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Clyde and Winifred (Mead) Hancox. He graduated from Seymour High School with the Class of 1973. He furthered his education at Indian Hills Community College for two years. Don was united in marriage to Norene Marie Wolver, and to this union, a son was born, Andrew.
Don worked as a maintenance worker throughout his life. In his free time, he enjoyed offering his time to the Seymour First Baptist Church, where he was a long-time member. He was a history buff on the side- especially the Civil War era. Don was fond of reading, hunting, helping on the farm, and anything John Deere.
Left to honor Don's memory are his wife, Norene Hancox; his son, Andrew (Rebecca) Hancox; three sisters, Dorothy Hancox, Doris (Don) Seams, and Dian (Brent) McManus; his sister-in-law, Nora (Jim) DeVore; as well as numerous extended family members.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Winifred Hancox; and his in-laws, Ernest and Alfreda Wolver.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, September 1, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour with Pastor Micaiah Stanley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant View Cemetery in Seymour. Visitation will take place Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour with the family greeting friends from 5-7PM.
