Dixie Large, 67 of Centerville passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Dixie was born November 24, 1940 in Centerville to Raymond & Helen (Phelps) Thomas. She received her education from Centerville High School in 1959. Dixie was united in marriage to Robert Large on July 3, 1960 in Centerville. She worked for Easters Grocery for 19 years and Farmers Bank for 7 years. Dixie enjoyed camping, cooking(especially holiday meals), fishing, riding her golf cart with her two dogs and time spent with her family. She played the accordion on KCOG every Sunday years ago. Dixie is survived by her husband Robert Large of Centerville, three children; Terry Large, of Gillette, Wyoming, Deanna Russell(Bruce) of Rathbun, Tim Large of Ottumwa, two grandchildren; Raymond Russell(Jill) of Bloomfield, Michelle Russell of Rathbun, great grandson, Cole Russell of Bloomfield and her mother Helen Thomas of Centerville. She was preceded in death by her father Raymond Thomas. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will be in Haines Cemetery.
