Diona Jolene Crowder's Obituary
Diona Crowder, 82 of Fremont and formerly of Centerville went to be with her Lord & Savior on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:43AM at North Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa.
Diona was born on June 7, 1942 in Davenport, the daughter of Harry and Murl (Bankson) Peek. She would later move to Centerville.
Diona had numerous jobs throughout her life, but taking care of her kids and grandkids was her favorite thing to do. Her faith was also very important to her, including attending the House of Prayer Church.
Diona enjoyed camping and was enthusiastic about going to the casino. She loved to drink Pepsi, but she was partial to coffee more. She was also fond of traveling with Ray, as well as her late friend, Clem on the truck. She was a person that never knew a stranger, and would help anyone she could. Diona was attached to her cats more than most people would be, as she looked at them as her other children. She had an immense love for her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids who were angels in her eyes.
Left to cherish Diona's memory are her children, Carolyn Whicker, Lisa (Michael) Angel, Kenneth (Amy) Seeley, Charles Seeley, Sarah Collis (Jeff McClurg), Kellen Crowder; her significant other, Ray Smith; 12 grandchildren, Jenny, Johnny, Christopher, Brittany, Whitney, Malisha, Zachary, Dennis, Shadara, Zaiden, Shawayla, and Maysha; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Stankee (Paul) and Carolyn Agan; and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her son, Babe "Benji" Forney; parents, Harry Peek & Murl Bankson Lee; siblings, Jerry Crowder, Larry Peek, Peggy Coady, Sherry Vanderecken, Dixie Agan; daughter-in-law, La Von Seeley; and a special friend, Clem Fowler.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, February 21, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Haines Cemetery. Visitation will be all day Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7:00 PM. Memorials may be given to the family in care of Lisa Angel, to be used towards funeral expenses, and can be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Crowder Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
