Diana Roberts' Obituary
Diana Lee Roberts, 79 of Corydon passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Diana was born to Lloyd & Beula (Gretten) Thomas on August 22, 1940 at the family home in Hiteman, Iowa. Diana received her education, graduating from Albia High School. On May 4, 1963, Diana was united in marriage to David Roberts at the Albia Methodist Chapel. They made their home on David's family farm in Allerton, Iowa. To this union came three children: Diana Faye, Robin Lynn and David Glenn II. Diana was a homemaker for several years as well as working at the Albia and Corydon hospitals and at Pauline's Nursing home as a nursing assistant. She took care of their children and worked on the farm. In her later years she established "Our Home" business in Corydon for elderly care. She immensely enjoyed providing an alternative to those who could no longer live at home alone. She loved hosting "cookie time" each afternoon to the residents and anyone else that happened to be visiting at that time. Her hard work and dedication to caring for the elderly impacted the lives of many local residents. Diana enjoyed time with her family and friends. She loved cooking and baking. She loved life and always had time to welcome frequent visitors around the kitchen table for food and drink. She and her husband loved playing cards and attending the local dances. Survivors include two children: Robin Phillips (Kim) of Salt Lake City, Utah and David Roberts II of Allerton, Iowa, three grandchildren: Lauren (Mount Pleasant, SC), Madison (Mount Pleasant, SC) and Katherine (Chicago) Phillips. She is also survived by numerous extended family members. Diana was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, daughter, Diana Faye and a sister Maida Thomas. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow in Bollman Chapel Cemetery.
