Diana Kay McCullough's Obituary
Diana Kay McCullough, age 75, passed away at Harmony Care Center in West Des Moines on Saturday, March 1st. Born in Leon, Iowa on 04-19-1949, Diana was the second child of Earl & Pauline McCullough. They lived in Decatur City, Iowa; Wheatland, Wyoming; and Corydon, Iowa. She graduated from Wayne Community High School (Corydon) in 1967.
Diana attended Bob Jones University and received a certificate in secretarial services. She returned to Iowa and got a job with Banker's Life in Des Moines, IA. In the 1970s, Bankers Life recognized that they needed additional programmers and tested their secretarial pool for high potential candidates. Diana was selected, and they trained her and a cohort of other secretaries to be computer programmers. She continued to work as a computer programmer for Bankers Life - which became Principal Financial in 1985 - until her retirement in 2010.
After the death of her sister, Jeanne, in 2000, Diana raised her niece, Kyra. Diana and Kyra lived in Des Moines where they raised their cats, crafted, and gamed together.
Diana sold Mary Kay in the 1980s - 1990s. She was an avid crafter - she decorated birthday cakes; would sew doll clothes; and began scrapbooking. She spent most of her free time researching, planning, and executing her crafty ideas.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Pauline McCullough (Corydon, IA); her sisters, Jeanne McCullough and Karen (Bob) Robb; nephew, Barry Robb; great nephew, Gideon McCullough and many aunts and uncles. Mourning her loss is her brother, Jack (Mary) McCullough; her nieces & nephews, Kyra McCullough; Eric (Angela) Robb, Shari (Jim) Farrell, Stacy (Randy) Zerr, Seth (Trish) McCullough, Sara McCullough, Jesse (Christne) McCullough, and Sarah Robb; cousins; and many great nieces and nephews.
Diana was a founding member of Corydon Bible Church, and was at one time an active member at First Federated Church in Des Moines, IA.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Visitation will be held before the service starting at 10AM.
