Devon Rae Hesler's Obituary
Devon Hesler, age 43, of Burlington, formerly of Centerville, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Devon was born on March 7, 1980, the daughter of Mike and Janet (Pace) Stevens. She attended Centerville High School, where she was proud to have played softball and be a cheerleader. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1998. She furthered her education at Buena Vista University, receiving her Bachelor's degree.
In 1999, Devon met the love of her life, John Hesler. The couple was united in marriage on May 18, 2002. To this union, two daughters were born, Aubrey on August 2, 2008 and Harper on October 19, 2021.
Devon's entire life was devoted to her family, friends, and her children. She chose to be a stay-at-home mom, so she would always be available for her children and family, and to give her children the opportunity to do everything they wanted. She was a softball mom from the time Aubrey picked up a t-ball. You would always find her on the sidelines- coaching, cheering and keeping score and stats. Devon was always smiling and had a bubbly personality. She was a huge animal lover especially her two cats. Devon had a huge heart of pure gold, and fiercely loved and protected her family.
Left to cherish Devon's memory are her husband, John Hesler; her children, Aubrey and Harper Hesler; her father, Mike Stevens; her brother, Heath Stevens; her sister, Stacy (Scott) Arnold; her aunt, Thressa (Jim) Robinson; her sister-in-law, Veronica (Paul) Simpson; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Devon was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Stevens; her paternal grandma, Geneva Fry; and maternal grandparents, Winston and Lorene Pace.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM, Friday, September 29, 2023, at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, with Larry Bettis officiating. Burial will follow at Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville. Visitation will take place Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 5:00PM-7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Family of Devon Hesler, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Hesler family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
