Dennis Miller's Obituary
Dennis Lee Miller, 78, passed away on January 4, 2021 at his home in Plano, Iowa after a short illness. Dennis was born in Centerville, Iowa on February 9, 1942 and was the younger of two living sons born to Harold and Lydia (Buller) Miller. His education began at a local country school by the name of College before graduating from Seymour High School in 1960. Dennis furthered his education by attending an electronics trade school before taking a job with Automatic Electric installing dial-up telephone equipment. Dennis was united in marriage to Judith Anne Tunnell on June 25, 1963 at the Plano Christian Church and left for work in Browning, Montana the very same day. After spending the summer months working out west in Courtland and Gilroy, California, he moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska before moving back to Plano, Iowa in order to help with his parents' farming operation where he resided the remainder of his life. In addition to farming, Dennis worked as manager of the Gro Mo Co. Company fertilizer plant in Plano for a few years and later at Young's Liquid Grow fertilizer plant north of Plano. After selling the family farm in 2009, he purchased a small business called "Ma & Pa Kettle" Corn and enjoyed setting up at local venues around Centerville and the surrounding area. Dennis also enjoyed woodworking and welding in his spare time, and entered some of his projects in competitions at the Iowa State Fair. Dennis and Judith's marriage was blessed with three adopted children from Korea; Daniel in 1974 and twins Jennifer and Al in 1977. Dennis was also active in the Plano Christian Church all of his life; where he became an elder. Other interests include: memberships in the Gideons International where he held various local and state positions and New Hope Counseling Center of Centerville where he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He also was a member of Appanoose Community Homes where he helped renovate homes and install handicapped ramps. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Judith; children: Daniel Miller, Jennifer Miller and Al Miller; grandchildren: Mackenzie, Armani and Callie Miller; brother, Clayton (Gwen) Miller and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jordy Miller and two newborn brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Plano.
