Dennis Ray Hyle's Obituary
Dennis Hyle, 82, of Unionville, MO passed away at University Hospital in Columbia, MO on January 28, 2026, due to injuries sustained from a head on collision on December 12, 2025.
Dennis Ray Hyle was born in Centerville, IA, on August 9, 1943, to Clell August and Ruby Francis (Abbott) Hyle. He attended Graysville Elementary School and Livonia High School until it closed. He then graduated from Lancaster High School in 1961.
Dennis married Patricia Irene Furnish on April 25, 1964, in Hartford, MO and 3 children were born to this union.
Dennis and Pat began married life in LeClair, Iowa where he worked at JI Case. In 1967 they moved back to Putnam County, and he started working at McGraw-Eddison in Centerville, Iowa. A few years later he started working for Marvin Abbott rebuilding cars and he started his lifelong love for farming and raising cattle and hogs. They loved checking the cattle every morning and watching the new calves play. In 1973 they moved to Omaha, MO where he continued to live until his death. Dennis also worked at Missouri Mining and PSF. He was very active in the community, serving for over 25 years on the Soil and Water board, helping to start and serving on the Liberty Fire Department and serving on the Liberty Township board for several years. Dennis was active with his children in 4-H being honored for 25 years of 4-H Leadership. As an adult, Dennis became a Christian and was a member of Omaha Baptist Church. He was also a Deacon at the church. He and Pat had a special love for the youth, taking them to Sports Retreat, Youth Camps, Mission Trips and Float Trips. He touched many hearts.
Dennis is survived by his children David (Denise) Hyle and Doug (Sara) Hyle all of Unionville and Dennise (Ric) O'Dell of Bessemer, Alabama. His surviving grandchildren are Dalton (Jenna) Hyle, Dathan Hyle, Derric (Maura) O'Dell, Justin (Rachel) O'Dell, Jennifer (Grant) Miller, Delaney, Dayne, Dayley and Dylan Hyle. Dennis' great grandchildren are Aleaha and Alyas Hyle, Harper, Kora and Laekin Hyle, Dash, Demi, Dani and Dean O'Dell, Wyatt Moore, Liam and Emmett O'Dell and Murphie Miller. He is also survived by 2 brothers William Hyle, LeClaire, Iowa and Dwight (Bettye) Hyle, Tallahassee, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife Pat on January 16, 2017. His parents and a brother Curtis Dean Hyle, and three Grandchildren Amanda Ruth Hyle, Davie Ray Hyle and Lloyd Lee Hyle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Omaha Baptist Church in Omaha, MO with visitation being held one hour prior, from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Shipley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Shipley Cemetery and may be entrusted to Thomas Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th Street, Unionville, MO 63565.
