Dennis Bond's Obituary
Dennis Bond, age 54 of Centerville died Saturday afternoon, May 27, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.
He was born January 24, 1952 near Washington, Iowa the son of Russell and Lucille (Bray) Bond. Dennis grew up on a farm near Richland, Iowa. He graduated from Pekin High School. He still holds records at Pekin High School for football. After graduation he attended Indian Hills Community College. He not only graduated and played football, but he met another student Mary Ann Barbaglia, He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Barbaglia on December 21, 1974 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Mystic, Iowa.
Dennis farmed his entire life and for the last 25 years worked for ISU-Alliant. He was a Quaker who attended Hopewell Church near Richland and then St. Mary's Catholic Church with his wife and children. Earlier in his career he worked at the first grain Alcohol still in ___________________. He loved wood working and built his family home with a liitle help from Uncle Carl Barbaglia.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Centerville, three children Carrie Bond of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Brian Bond of Bondurant, Iowa and Brad at home, a brother Richard and his wife Carol of Richland, Iowa, a sister Marlene Bond of Richland, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Larry.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday May 30, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Will officiating. Friends may call all day Monday with the family present from 5-8pm at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery, north of Mystic, IA. Casket bearers will be Jeff Royer, Tony Bond, Gary Wenisch, Bruce Frevert, Chuck Deatsch, Vic Senter. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill and Steve Adam. Memorials have been established to the Brad Bond Educational Fund, Mahaska County Conservation, or the American Diabetes Assoc. and may be left or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St. Centerville, Iowa 52544.
