Delores Burkland's Obituary
Delores Burkland, 91 of Ankeny and formerly of Moravia, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Mill Pond Care Center in Ankeny.
Delores was born to Glen & Edyth (Lister) Ball on February 4, 1931 in Plano, Iowa. She was a graduate of Centerville High School. Delores was united in marriage to William "Bill" Burkland on August 20, 1949. To this union came two children; Andy and Nancy.
Delores owned and operated a flower shop in Moravia for many years. She was also very involved in the community and various organizations such as the Moravia Public Library, Moravia Historical Society and Depot Complex, Garden Club, Trees Forever, Historic Hills and Iowa Mormon Trail Association. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, bird watching, and painting. Delores loved her family and always enjoyed hosting family gatherings and spending time with them.
Survivors include her children: William "Andy" Burkland (Emilia), Nancy Carley (Mike), five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Burkland, a sister, Greta Bata, and her parents.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia from 1-7:00 pm, with family present from 5-7:00 pm.
