Della Hudson's Obituary
Della Hudson, age 79 of Corydon passed away on November 12, 2020 at Corydon Specialty Care. Della Geneil Christensen was born to Frank and Bessie (Stier) Christensen on January 3, 1941 in rural Atlantic, Iowa. The family later moved to rural Adair, Iowa. Della loved to help with the farm work. She had a love for horses and her family raised Shetland ponies. Della graduated from Adair High School in 1959. She then moved to Des Moines where she met Nyle (Dick) Hudson. They were united in marriage on July 6, 1968. They made their home in Elkhart, where they lived until seven years ago when they moved to Corydon, Iowa to be closer to family. They had 52 years together. Della and Nyle had three children: Carrie, Deborah, and Charles. Della was a homemaker and a childcare provider. She watched numerous children over the years that she loved and many became like family. Della enjoyed making crafts, reading, playing games, and spending time with family and friends. She was a long time member of the Elkhart Christian Church. Della especially loved being a grandmother and doing things with her grandchildren. They were the twinkle in her eye! She loved going to their activities and she was their biggest fan! She loved them deeply and she always showed them her genuine love. Her grandchildren adored and loved her just as equally. Della's life was well lived and was rich with love. She will be deeply missed by many. Della is survived by her husband, Nyle, daughter, Carrie Gassman (Rob), step daughter Deborah Harris (David Casey), step son, Charles Hudson (Jodi), sisters: Bonnie Christensen and Joyce Nalevanko, grandchildren: Mandie, Brandon (Lacee), Katie, Kadon, Jadon, Bradon, and Brigley Gassman, Brittany Baca (Paul), Cody and August Wright, Chuck Hudson (Andrea), Julia Futch (Mike), five great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lynn Christensen, and grandson, Luke Wright. Funeral service for immediate family only will be Friday, November 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Elkhart Christian Church. Interment will follow the service at the Elkhart Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Corydon Specialty Care Activity Fund. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the spring or summer of 2021.
