Deborah Jean Lowe's Obituary
Deborah "Debbie" Lowe, 73 of Unionville, MO passed away at the Boone Hospital Center on January 11, 2026.
Debbie was born on April 24th, 1952, in Unionville, MO, the daughter of Billy and Augusta (Kathleen) (White) Torrey. After graduating from Putnam County High School, Debbie worked at Sears in Unionville before starting her career as a secretary. On August 16th, 1970, she married Andrew (Andy) Lowe at the Wesley Chapel Church, North of Unionville. Three children were born to this union.
Debbie enjoyed the simple things of everyday life like shopping, going out to eat, reading, and the Hallmark Channel. On the weekends she would slip off to Lake Thunderhead to be in the sand with her grandchildren and watch the weekly band. Above all, Debbie's life was really about her grandchildren, and she made certain they knew it. Grandma Debbie was also the light of her grandkids' life and many fond memories were made going to Grandpa and Grandma's on the weekends. She loved nothing more than taking the kids to the pool or the park.
In 2021, Debbie fulfilled her long time aspiration of seeing the ocean with her daughters by travelling to Gulf Shores, Alabama. She experienced wading in the ocean, eating alligator, and parasailing, which was quite the experience.
Debbie is survived by her three children, Christy Brooks of Unionville, MO; Rhonda Peek (Jeff) of Pollock, MO; and Nathan Lowe (Ashley) of Unionville, MO. Debbie's surviving grandchildren are Garrett Brooks, Darrin Lowe, Jenna Peek, Dylan Brooks (McKinley), Emma Lowe, Gunner Peek, Sadie Lowe, and Kimber Lowe. Her surviving great grandchildren are Remi, Rylee, and Henley. Debbie is also survived by two sisters, Cheryl Hyland of Nebraska and Shari Peters (Dave) of Iowa along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Debbie is preceded in death by her husband Andy Lowe, mother-in-law Wanda Lowe, Father-in-law Floyd Lowe, a brother Rick Torrey, a niece Jessica Torrey, and nephews Jeff Steele and John Steele.
Memorials in Debbies' honor may be made payable to the Putnam County R1 School where funds will be used for the elementary library.
Debbie's visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15th, 2026, at 10:00am at the Thomas Funeral Home in Unionville, MO with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa.
