Dean Coltrain's Obituary
Dean Coltrain, age 79 of Moravia, Iowa passed away Friday, September 02, 2016 at Centerville Specialty Care.
He was born in Moravia, Iowa on January 26, 1937, the son of Emery and Myrtis (Proctor) Coltrain. Dean was united in marriage to Agatha "Gay" Hayden on December 17, 1960 in Denver, Colorado.
Dean could easily be described as "a jack of all trades and a master of none." He possessed the talent to take "junk" and build it into something magnificent. An ATV, a Ferris Wheel, and a Parking Lot Sweeper are just a few items Dean built during his lifetime.
He was also an auto mechanic. Furthermore, Dean had a passion for classic cars. Yet, Dean was a farmer by trade. Raised on a farm, he never completely left the world of Agriculture.
Dean is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Gay Coltrain of Moravia, Iowa; two children, Dee (Brian) McNamara of Story City, Iowa, and Darius (Christina) Coltrain of Maine; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five brothers, Joe Coltrain of Licking, Missouri, Don Coltrain of Newtown, Missouri, Jim (Ruth) Coltrain of Meade, Colorado, Chuck (Julie) Coltrain of Waverly, Iowa, and Howard (Judy) Coltrain of Centerville, Iowa; a sister, Lois (Jerry) Bubenyak of Centerville, Iowa; as well as several other family members; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sister-in-laws, Norma Coltrain and Fran Coltrain.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia with Pastor Dennis Doud officiating. Burial will follow in the Sale Cemetery near Moravia. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 9 AM-10:30 AM.
