David William Vinzant's Obituary
David William Vinzant, 68 of Mystic, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at University of Iowa Hospital.
David was born to William and Bonnie (Samson) Vinzant in Centerville, Iowa on May 31, 1954. After graduating from Centerville High School in 1972 David was united in marriage to Sandy Baethke. To this union David and Sandy welcomed their children Michael and Kate.
David enjoyed farming, collecting and restoring his tractors and time spent with his family. He found immense joy in his grandchildren and could always make them laugh. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Centerville, Walnut Masonic Lodge of Mystic and 4-H where he spent many years serving in multiple capacities. He was also an active member of the Lapland Plowboy Tractor Club. David enjoyed the WHO tractor ride as well as other community tractor rides with his family. During the winter months David enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and never missed watching a game.
David is survived by his wife Sandy, children; Michael Vinzant (Maria), Kate Coil (Patrick), grandchildren; Ethan Vinzant, Erin Coil, Emily Coil, siblings; Margaret Kester, Jan Vinzant, Mary Davis (Lloyd), John Vinzant, and a dear friend; Carolyn Bauman as well as numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Bonnie Vinzant and brother-in-law Duffy Kester.
Funeral service will be at First United Methodist Church in Centerville, Iowa on Monday September 26, 2022 at 10:30 AM. Interment will immediately follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with family present from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Memorials will be established for First United Methodist Church and a 4-H program to be established in David's name and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
