David Seat, Sr.'s Obituary
David Seat, Sr., age 80, of Centerville, Iowa went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Rev. Dr. William R. and Elizabeth (Rayner) Seat on February 2, 1927 in Salem, Indiana. He graduated from the Washington Community Schools in Washington, Indiana in 1945. He was then drafted into the US Army and served his Country with honor from January 28, 1945 until his discharge on January 30, 1947, spending a year of that time in Italy with the 88th Division. After being discharged and returning home, he enrolled at De Pauw University in Green Castle, Indiana and graduated with a B.A. Degree in 1950.David was employed by the J.C. Penney Company and worked in several store locations over his 20 years of service of which his last was here in Centerville. On April 20, 1952, David was united in marriage to Doris Armes in Washington, Indiana at the First Baptist Church, with his father, Rev. Dr. William Seat performing the ceremony with much joy. After leaving JC Penny Company, David worked for Shelter Insurance Company for over 18 years in Centerville. He and his wife, Doris also owned and operated The Village Sewing Shoppe for several years. He was a life long member of the First Baptist Church, being very active as a teacher and a member of the many boards. He was also a member of the Charity Masonic Lodge #30 of Washington, Indiana, a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Centerville and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. David loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was a loving husband and father.He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Dr. William R. Seat, III and Dr. Marshall H. Seat; sister, Elizabeth Scott; and a nephew, Steven Seat.David is survived by: his wife, Doris Seat of Centerville, Iowa; sons, David Martin Seat, Jr and his fiance, Kathy Ramsey of Beacon, Iowa and Eric Douglas Seat and his wife, Margaret 'Mick' of Centerville, Iowa and their children, Amber Winn and her husband, Clay and their daughter, Carley all of Ottumwa, Iowa and Wyatt Seat of Centerville; daughter, Pamela Ann Whisler and her husband, Delbert and their children, Adam and Patrick Whisler all of Mystic, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 11 am at the To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of David Seat, Sr. please visit our Sympathy Store.
