David Charles Erickson David Charles Erickson, son of Charles and Clover (Van Benthuysen) Erickson was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 27, 1936 and passed away at the Pleasant Care Living Center, Pleasantville, Iowa on October 28, 2010 at the of 74 years, 5 months, and 1 day. David attended school until eighth grade at Urbandale Community School then moved with his parents to Seymour, Iowa where he graduated in 1954. Following graduation he attended Iowa State University for two years. On September 15, 1957 he married Kathryn Elaine Scurlock of Centerville. Following their marriage Kathryn taught in the Seymour school and David farmed with his dad. Together they built a good-sized and well-known Holstein dairy herd. It was something David was very proud of and he enjoyed working with the cattle. In 1972 because of health reasons David was forced to discontinue his farming career. David is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of 53 years, two sons, Derik and his wife Heather and Douglas and special friend, Melissa, three grandchildren, Joseph, Samuel and Annie and one sister, Karen (Milton) Albertson of Seymour and a host of special nieces, nephews and friends.
