David L. Hamlin of Seymour, Iowa died on the morning of December 12, 2011 at 1:30a.m. David was born to Alice (Beary) and Dwight Hamlin at their farm near Seymour on March 24, 1933. He graduated from Seymour High School where he played on the football team, attended Centerville Community College, was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1953, and graduated from Drake University in 1958. In May of 1958 David married Peggy Bargenquast with whom he had two daughters. David worked as a data processing consultant for a variety of companies and in many locales around the world including Washington State, Chicago, Liberia, and India. He returned to Iowa in the 1990's and lived on the family farm until his death. David is survived by two daughters Kathleen (John) Ogren of Kansas City, Missouri and Shelley Hamlin of Springfield, Illinois, 4 grandchildren (Rachel, Kristofer, Collin, and Johnathon), a brother Max (Carol) of California, a brother-in-law Kenneth Hume of Des Moines, an aunt Dorothy Morgan of Indianola, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marie Hume. David was a generous man who touched many lives. One of his favorite songs describes his life best, 'I Did it My Way'.
