David Murrow's Obituary
David Lee Murrow was born March 17, 1936 in Corydon, Iowa to Rondel and Vera (Sayers) Murrow. He passed away on May 1, 2019, at Chariton Specialty Care. David attended schools in Wayne County and graduated from Mormon Trail in 1954. He was married to Jeanette Carton on November 16, 1956, at the Humeston Baptist Church. To this union two children were born: Mary Joyce and David L. Jr. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved talking with them and catching up on their journeys through their life; almost as if he lived vicariously through them. He loved the farm and farming. He taught his children how to farm and to love the land that had been in the family for generations. He sometimes gave family members nicknames, such as Mary, being "Sissy," David Jr. being "Pedro," and his niece, Nancy being "Lizzy" just to name a few. He also enjoyed his tractors, and going fishing. He and Jeanette loved spending time together and spending time with their family on holidays, playing cards, visiting family and friends or simply relaxing at home talking. Their love was the kind that Fairy Tales are made from. They were not just an extension of one another; they were best friends and soulmates. One without the other was painful to see. Survivors include his children: Mary Trumper and David Murrow, Jr. (Angie), grandchildren: Shadee Wenger (Scott), Alitha Jellison (Jamie), Trinity Murrow (Scott), Josh Trumper (Jody), Zachary Murrow (Skyla), Shawndra Murrow (Scott), David Murrow III (Laura), Justic Murrow; 27 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, sister, Edna Brown (Dwight) and sister-in-law Clydine Birkland. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette; and brother, Kenneth. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at Kirby Cemetery in Cambria. Visitation will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.
