David R. Mcveigh's Obituary
Dave McVeigh, age 59 of Numa, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 04, 2008 at his home.
Dave was born January 25, 1949, the son of Frank and Twilah (Hunt) McVeigh in Centerville, Iowa. Dave married Betty Blecher May 15, 1976 at the Little Flock Chapel west of Centerville. He worked and co-owned D&T Construction with his partner and friend Tim McMahon from 1985-2007. Dave also worked construction in Rock Island, as well as different factories around Centerville. He and his wife Betty ran the Numa Station for a few years. Dave loved to plan and organize family vacations and take as many family members vacations as possible. In his free time, Dave enjoyed playing guitars around the campfire, canoeing, fishing, gardening and planting trees.
Dave is survived by his wife, Betty McVeigh of Numa, Iowa; children, Tina Martin of Centerville, Iowa, Justin McVeigh and Jeremia McVeigh both of Numa, Iowa; step children, Jon Weston of Des Moines, Iowa and Jade Prokes of Melrose, Iowa; nine grandchildren; his mother, Twilah McVeigh of Mystic, Iowa; siblings, Roger (Fran) McVeigh of Unionville, Iowa, Frances Ashby of Mystic, Iowa and Kathy (Laurel) Varner of Mystic, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank McVeigh; a still born infant daughter; his father, Frank McVeigh; grandparents; a sister, Carol Sue Barrell; and a grandson, Avery Martin.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow at the Numa Cemetery. A visitation will be held all day Saturday at the funeral home with family present from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Mercy Hospice Suite and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
