David Dickinson's Obituary
David Dickinson, age 78, Mystic, Iowa died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Veterans Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.
David was born February 25, 1930, the son of David Henry and Eula (Bigbey) Dickinson Sr. in Bakersfield, California. David was in the Navy and served in the Korean War. He married Lorraine Lenore Donovan on November 27, 1954 in Reno, Nevada. David worked for his parents furniture/mattress/upholstery factory in California. He created furniture for many interior designers. David ran his own furniture store in Centerville for seven years. He was a avid fisherman. David was a member of the Church of Christ in Promise City, Iowa and the VFW.
David is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Sharon (Phil) Prater of Moravia, Iowa, and Clarice Bailey of Minneapolis, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Jill Prater, Robin Prater, Jeff Prater all of Moravia, Iowa, Ruth Bailey, Hannah Bailey and Julia Bailey all of Minneapolis, Minnesota; four sisters, Dorothy King of Pomona, California, Ramona (Bob) Fletcher of Dixon, California, Doris (Don) Stanley of Sacramento, California and Carol (Richard) Munsell of Hayward, California; a brother Richard Dickinson of Manteca, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank Dickinson; an infant son, Thomas Charles Dickinson and a son; David Scott Dickinson.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Moravia Funeral Chapel with Pastor Merle Prater officiating. Burial will follow at the Salem Cemetery near Moravia, Iowa. A visitation will held Tuesday at the Moravia Funeral Chapel with family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Moravia Funeral Chapel, 105 N John St., Moravia, Iowa 52571.
