Daryl Kyner's Obituary
Daryl Dean Kyner, 64 years old, died at his home after a long illness. He was affectionately known as GDad to friends and family alike. Also known as Papa Kyner to his grandkids. He was the 4th child/2nd son of Kenneth and Virginia Kyner. Daryl was an avid historical buff loving westerns and war movies. He was a movie enthusiast watching historical, action and even comedies. He also was a big collector of stamps, coins and even antique items that he would find along his way. He loved planes, drawing and riding Harleys. He had a great sense of humor and love for everyone who he encountered. He would give anyone the shirt off his back even if he did not have it. The love for his kids was his driving force and he gave each of them nicknames - Crystal - Sissy, Marcus - Markie, Jaclyn - Lil Red and Bridget - Bree. Daryl grew up in rural Decatur Co. on the family farm, graduating from Mormon Trail HS in 1972 then earned a two-year accounting degree from DMACC in 1999 with honors. He went on to work several trade jobs and was very resourceful throughout his life. Daryl worked at DeFlecta Shield, Shivvers, Wayne County Hospital, various departments at the City of Corydon and the Chariton Sportsman Bar through the many years living in Corydon, IA. He was preceded in death by his son Marcus James (1978-1991), grandparents John Edward (1892-1969) and Nora Elizabeth Calhoun (1898-1995) Kyner, Melvin James (1904-1993) and Edna Ethel Elwell (1908-1986) McKeeman, sister Gloria Ann Kyner Searby (1957-2018) and brother-in-law Jerry Lee Morgan (1949-1998). He is survived by his parents Kenneth & Virginia (McKeeman) Kyner of LeRoy, children: Crystal (Nick) Monteleone of TX, and Jaclyn Kyner and Bridget Kyner of Florida, siblings: Donna Morgan of Corydon, Janice (Ray) Coffey of Florida, and Nile Kyner of LeRoy, brother-in-law Randy Searby of Allerton, grandchildren: Dominic, Danielle, and Andrew Monteleone of TX and Logan Donohoe and Kylee Green of FL, as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. There will be a private burial at Garden Grove Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memoriam of Daryl to assist with expenses to his daughter Crystal Monteleone.
