Darrell L. Thomas' Obituary
Darrell ""Mort"" Thomas, age 56 of Des Moines, Iowa passed away August 30, 2009 at his home in Des Moines.
Mort was born September 8, 1952, the son of Gerald and Juanita Mae (Phelps) Thomas in Albia, Iowa. He worked for Local #142 as a Union Roofer for twenty-two years. Mort enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and hunting.
Mort is survived by his father,Gerald; wife, Marla Thomas; significant other, Charlotte Mae Wray of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Gary Lee Thomas of Des Moines, Iowa; grandson, David Michael Thomas of Des Moines, Iowa; sisters, Carol Ann (Doyle) Hayes of Centerville, Iowa, and Lynn Moore (Richard Curl) of Centerville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa. A visitation will be held Friday at the funeral home with family present from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral home 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
