Darlene Southern's Obituary
Darlene Southern, 88, of Moulton, passed away on October 2, 2020 at Centerville Specialty Care. Darlene was born on January 5, 1932 in Unionville, Iowa to Glenn and Mabel (Strunk) Smith. On June 12, 1949 in Bloomfield, Iowa she married Richard Southern and to this union, two children were born. Darlene worked as a power machine operator for St. Regis Paper Company and Champion Paper Company. In her spare time, she enjoyed: Fishing with Richard, playing cards and Bingo. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Shauna (Don) Shelby; son, Steve Southern; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in March of 2020; her parents; brothers: Kenneth Smith and Howard Smith and her sister, Helen Mischler. A combined funeral service for Darlene and Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton. Interment will follow at Sunset View Cemetery.
