Darlene DeVore, 83 of Centerville passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at Long Term Care at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Darlene was born in Washington Township - Lucas County, Iowa on September 23, 1927 to Elvin & Lucy(Storm) Fortune. She graduated from Chariton High School in 1945. Darlene married Myron DeVore in Centerville on August 11, 1946. Darlene was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Centerville, P.E.O. and the Centerville Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter # 239. A few of her favorite hobbies were gardening, playing bridge, and refinishing antiques. Darlene was best known for her love of family and friends. She had a remarkable ability to bring out the best in everyone. She took great pride in being a mother, a grandmother ('Glocky'), and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. Darlene is survived by her husband Myron of Centerville, three children; MyRae Migliazzo(Sam) of Overland Park, Kansas, Tom DeVore of Kansas City, Missouri, Pam DeVore(Ross Busby) of Ft. Collins, Colorado, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sister Lanora Devore of Pella, two sisters-in-law; Lucy Fortune of Newton, Daralene Fortune of Conroe, Texas, brother-in-law, Quentin DeVore of Newton and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Ivan Fortune. The Devore family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to Shirley Payer and her husband Duane, for all the love, care, and support during the past several years of Darlene's courageous struggle with Alzheimer's. Funeral service will be 2PM, Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Suzanne Gorhau officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior from 1-2 PM. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
