Darlene McElvain's Obituary
Darlene McElvain, 91, of Norwalk and formerly of Seymour passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. Darlene was born to W.J. & Fern (Wright) Ryan in Millerton, Iowa on April 2, 1925. She received her education graduating from Seymour High School. On April 7, 1946, Darlene was united in marriage to John 'Marvelle' McElvain. After marrying they lived in rural Centerville until moving to Seymour in 1991.To this union were two children, Jane Ann and Robert. Darlene enjoyed spending time with her family. She also liked 4-H, Garfield the Cat and especially the Chicago Cubs. Survivors include her daughter Jane Ann Mahon (Bill) of Norwalk, her children; Veronica Mahon (Kirk Moser) of Ankeny and their child Finnegan Moser of Ankeny, grandson, Bill Mahon of Johnston and and his children Logan & Lilli Mahon of Johnston, granddaughter, Angela McGraw (Dan) of Des Moines, and their children Hannah & Connor McGraw of Des Moines, grandson, Kevin Mahon (Alicia) of Des Moines and their child, Bryant Marvelle of Des Moines, daughter in law, Deb McElvain of Numa, granddaughter Rayko Young and her children, Hunter, Kianna & Trinity of Numa, grandson Robert McElvain Jr. and his daughter Karyle, and a granddaughter Skyler McElvain of Numa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvelle McElvain, son Robert McElvain and brother and sister-in-law, Ivan & Verlee Ryan. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour with Kay Singley officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior from 10:30-11:30. Memorials may be given to the family and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
