Darlann Fetters' Obituary
On Thursday, October 8, 2015, Darlann Fetters turned that third barrel, let go of the reins, and headed home to be with Jesus. After months of giving all of her strength, hope, and tears into her final go 'round, she took her last breath with her family by her side.
Born to Dwight & Barb (Williams) Fetters on May 28, 1963, Darla grew up in the Seymour and Promise City areas. She attended Seymour Community School where she was active in basketball and cheerleading. She was also a member of the National High School Rodeo and later became a professional barrel racer.
Later in life, she worked at Red Lobster in Des Moines, was a DJ at Viking Inn in Altoona, she ponied horses at Prairie Meadows Racetrack, and managed a horse ranch. She was also a computer tech in Phoenix, Arizona and the bakery manager at Ryan's in Cedar Rapids. Most recently, she was a groomer for the Belgians at Salsberry Farms.
She poured her heart into her poetry and was constantly using her artistic abilities to create amazing drawings. Her favorite drawings were of her daughters, often making them sit still for hours to get a perfect portrait.
In her free time, she could be found caring for her plants and flowers or rehearsing for jams with her mom. The hope, unconditional love and wisdom from her life lessons she passed on to all those lucky enough to know her. She had many extra "children" in her life and taught all how to make the best out of every situation. Never one to hold a grudge, she loved with every bit of her heart. She showed the true meaning of never giving up and always keeping the faith.
She is survived by her mother, Barb Fetters of Promise City; daughters: Trista (Tyler) Hysell of Centerville, Amber (Travis) Hawk of Des Moines, and Lacy Davis of Sherwood, ND; grandchildren: Tacey Dwight, Tallisen, Truin, Taggar and Tazech; siblings: Danny (Jane) Fetters of Beacon, and Debbie (Jack) Kovacevich of Rathbun; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Dwight, her brothers: Dennis and Dug, and a niece, Shelby Phillips.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2015 at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour. Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour. Memorials may be given to Darla's family and condolences may be shared at www.thomasrandolphfh.com
