Danny Joe Furlin's Obituary
Danny Joe Furlin (Big Dan) passed away July 20, 2022 at Centerville Specialty Care in Centerville, IA. Danny was born on August 15, 1935 to Domenick and Corinna Furlin. Danny grew up with three sisters Delores, Antonette, and Josephine. He would graduate from Numa High School with the class of 1954
He was united in marriage to the love of his life Anita Furlin (Egan) on August 6th, 1966 in Chicago, IL. To this union three children were born, Danny, Jackie, and Peggy.
Danny served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960 then returned home to work in construction and farming with the purchase of his first farm. He helped in the building of the Rathbun Dam, then went to work for Union Carbide/Viskase, and farmed in Numa, IA. After retirement he continued to actively farm Furlin Farms. Danny enjoyed spending time with family, taking trips, and farming. His favorite hobbies included reading, feeding his fish at Lake Anita, watching his cows, and searching for the best gooseberry pie on his travels.
He is survived by his loving wife Anita Furlin, his children Danny Furlin (Martha), Jackie Mueller (Steve), and Peggy Micetich (Todd). Sisters Delores Gatrel and Antonette Kirkland. Grandsons Anthony Furlin and Gage Micetich. Granddaughters Danielle Furlin, Lauren Micetich, Ava Mueller and Ella Mueller. Also, his sister-in-law Mariann Petritis.
He was preceded by his parents Domenick and Corinna Furlin, along with a sister Josephine Stewart.
Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on July 27th, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, IA. Internment will follow immediately following the service at the Numa Cemetery in Numa, IA. A Visitation will be held at 10am to 7pm on July 26th, 2022 with family present from 5pm to 7pm at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, IA.
Memorial can be given to Susan G. Komen for the Cure in honor of his mother Corinna Furlin, The National Federation of the Blind or to St. Mary's Catholic Church. Condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com and at facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
