Dale Schwering's Obituary
Dale Lee Schwering, age 67, of Centerville passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026 at his home.
Dale was born on December 27, 1958 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Kenneth William Schwering and Rose Marie (Doyle) Schwering. Dale graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in Steamboat Rock, Iowa He was united in marriage to Cynthia Katter. Together, they welcomed four children into the world, Brandi, John, Kendale, and Noah.
A hardworking man, Dale held various jobs throughout his life. He worked for Hy-Vee Warehouse in Chariton for many years and later spent time at Lee Container in Centerville, until his health began to decline.
Dale was known for his sense of humor and his love of teasing, especially when it came to his family. He was a man who was "set in his ways," always doing things his own way, but that was part of his charm. He lived life on his own terms, and he made sure that it was his life to live, not defined by anyone else's expectations.
He was often called Uncle Gandolf by his nieces and nephews, due to his very long beard, but most importantly, he was called Dad and Grandpa. His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren. He cherished the moments spent with them, especially at family get togethers where laughter filled the air.
Dale loved watching the Pittsburg Steelers, bowling, playing bags, sitting around the dinner table for a good game of cards, attending family reunions, and sharing stories with his loved ones. Family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
Left to honor Dale's memory are his wife, Cindy Schwering; his children, Brandi Collins, John (Katy) Schwering, Kendale (Maygan) Schwering and Noah (KJ) Schwering; his grandchildren, Adaja Collins, Kadyn Proctor, Tyler Morrison, Tavian Collins, Tiana Collins, Tyra Schwering, Oriah Schwering, Mila Schwering, Bo Schwering, Kaison Schwering, Jayden Trevino, Charlie Schwering, Nala Rose Schwering, Harper Lucy Schwering; his siblings, Gail Schwering-Woollums, Scott Schwering, Wes (Mary) Schwering, and Robert (Lora) Schwering; his sister-in-law, Dawn Schwering; his brothers-in-law, Larry (Jenny) Katter and Neil Katter; an uncle, Gilbert (Peggy) Schwering; his aunt, Rita Bianchi; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his friends.
