Dale Leroy Jones' Obituary
Dale Leroy Jones, age 76, of Plano, Iowa, died Monday, October 29, 2007 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa. He was born on December 1, 1930 on the family farm north of Plano, Iowa to Merle Neil and Ova V. (Samuelson) Jones. He attended the Jones rural Appanoose County School and Centerville Community Schools.On June 4, 1950, he became Eleanor Davis's 'first husband'. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Dale spent his entire life on a farm 3 miles north of Plano, with the exception of a few years living in the town of Plano when he and Eleanor were first married. Dale farmed with his brother Neil until Neil's death. He farmed his entire life on a farm that had been in the Jones family since 1851. Dale served for many years on the FAS office county committee, receiving several awards for his long service. Dale loved his fox hounds and won many awards at dog meets. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and running his dogs. He was a member of the Plano Christian Church in Plano.He is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Eleanor Jones on January 6, 2005; his loving grandmother, Ollie Jones , she helped raise him; a brother, Neil Jones and sister, Betty Harbold; sister-in-law, Gerry Fadiga and brothers-in-law, Wayne Harbold and John Fadiga.Dale is survived by: his daughter, Becky Fetters and her husband, Brad of Lineville, Iowa and son, Phil Jones and his wife, Faye of Las Vegas, Nevada; three granddaughters, Dawn Rayl and her husband, Steven of Altoona, Iowa, Heather Jones of Olathe, Kansas and Brett Lantz and her husband, Ryan of Allerton, Iowa; two grandsons, Phil Jones, II, who made his home with Dale on the farm by Plano and Colton Fetters of Lineville, Iowa; great grandchildren, Braden Jones, Wyatt and Garrett Rayl; brothers, Donnie Jones and wife, Karen and Gary Jones; sister, Joann Glenn and husband, Gene; sister-in-laws, Ielene Jones, Gretchen Fadiga and Donna Davis; brother-in-law, Morris Fadiga, Roger Wells and his wife, Norma and Clive Wells and his wife, Margaret; also many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 10:30 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. David Welch officiating. Burial will follow at the Crossroads Cemetery west of Plano, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.A memorial has been established in his name and can be left at the funeral home.
