Dale R. Fenton age 76 of Centerville, Iowa died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Northeast Regional Hospital, Kirksville, Mo.
Dale was born January 13, 1933 north of Plano, Iowa, the son of Ormal and Selma (Kirkland) Fenton. He attended Brushy School. Dale later graduated from Centerville High School in 1950. He married Ryla Stober on October 30, 1955 in Moulton, Iowa.
He served in the US Navy from 1951-1955. Dale later served in the USAFR from 1962-1963. Following his military career, Dale began his career with GTE in August of 1963 in Illinois. He spent twenty nine years working for the telephone company until his retirement in December of 1992.
Dale was very dedicated as a volunteer for the Democratic Party. He spent numerous years volunteering his time to both the Henry and Appanoose County Democratic Parties.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Mystic American Legion. Dale was also a member of the Mystic Masonic Lodge.
Dale is survived by his wife Ryla Fenton of Centerville, Iowa; three children, Michael (Mary) Fenton of Omaha, Nebraska, Ray (Kim) Fenton of Dallas, Texas, and Cella (Brian) Lile of Kirksville, Missouri; and five grandchildren, Shalene and Rydel (Ashley) Fenton of Omaha, Nebraska, Mat Fenton of Dallas, Texas, and Jordan and Brianne Lile of Kirksville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Virginia Padavich.
