D. Rose Cornett, age 79, of Centerville, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Clovie and Lillian (Stockton) Garr on March 9, 1925 in Livonia, Missouri. She received her education in the Centerville Community Schools at Centerville, Iowa.On November 25, 1946, Rose was united in marriage to Kelley C. Cornett in Centerville, Iowa. She was a homemaker and also worked at MaGraw Edison and was a Police Dispatcher for the City of Centerville for a time. She served her country during WWII in the US Army as a General Clerk from November 1, 1944 until her Honorable discharge on August 15, 1946. She served at the European African Theater in Germany. She and her husband, Kelley enjoyed their family garden. She was great at pickling beets, canning green beans and other fresh produce. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Club both in Centerville.Rose was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Kelley C. Cornett on June 13, 1995; sister, Evelyn Stults, and brother, Dude Garr.Surviving her passing are her children, sons, Patrick Cornett and his wife, Connie of Centerville, Iowa, Anthony Cornett and his wife, Cathy of Unionville, Iowa; daughter, Michael Tosone and her husband, Larry of Centerville, Iowa; brother, Doyle F. Garr of Memphis, Missouri; grandchildren, Kelley Robinson, Missy Gilman, Caleb Cornett and Jaime Lee Cornett.; great grandchildren Kelle Gilman, Clayton Robinson, Cassie Gilman and Ashlyn Robinson, Parrios Cornett, Jada Cornett and Jaycee Cornett.Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 30, 2004 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial with full military honors by Centerville area Veterans organizations will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville following the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2004 from 1 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville.
