Curtis Edwin Sebolt's Obituary
Curtis Edwin Sebolt, 86, of Cincinnati passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Mercy One in Centerville.
Curtis was born to Clifford & Mabel (Exline) Sebolt on March 21, 1935 in Cincinnati, Iowa. He received his education from Seymour High School, graduating in 1952. On August 1, 1954, Curtis was united in marriage to Donna Gill in Springfield, Illinois.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and his lifestyle was a testimony to this. He was a member of a local Baptist church for over 60 years and served as treasurer for over 25 years as well as holding other positions in the church.
Curtis enjoyed farming during his adult life. His passion was county fairs having served on the Appanoose County Fair Board for a total of 41 years where he served as president for 31 years.
He became interested in the Association of Iowa Fairs and was elected to the district board, serving as vice president and then president. Several years later he advanced to the state level and served 9 years, becoming vice president and then president in 2004. In 2012 he received an award for the Outstanding and Dedicated Service to Iowa Fairs.
He received honors such as fair dad, 4-H Hall of Fame in 2004 and 4-H Alumni Award in 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, children: Connie Micetich, Craig Sebolt (Debbie), Carla Dye (Mark), Chris Sebolt (Kris), grandchildren: Stacey Lancaster (Dave), Sara Oden (Cory), DeAnna Rominger (Tyson), Gwynn Olson (Alex), Lauren McCann (Nick), Catie Sebolt, Cortney Schoonover (Chris), Cendra Sebolt, nine great grandchildren, brother, Marvin Sebolt and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Linsey Anderson and a brother, Neil Sebolt.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour. Visitation will be all day Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 pm.
