Craig DeVore's Obituary
Craig Lee DeVore, 51, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away on March 16, 2018 at University of Missouri Hospitals. Craig was born to Keith and Beulah (Fenton) DeVore on March 22, 1966 in Centerville, Iowa. He received his education from Seymour Community School District, graduating in 1984. Craig married the love of his life, Dana on January 20, 2006 and to this union, a blended family was created of six children: Teela, Trevor, Alexandra, Shaleigh, Kylie and Callie. Craig was full of life and laughter. You could catch him in his spot on the couch every time the Dallas Cowboys played. He had a love for cattle that he instilled in his children. He enjoyed attending cattle shows, standing ring side in support of his family. He also had a passion for sports and had a competitive spirit in which he passed down to his kids. He actively coached all six of his children in multiple sports and enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. He enjoyed attending all of their activities and having sleep overs with them. In his later years, Craig went back to college and completed his Bachelors in Education from Graceland University in 2008 and Master's in Education from William Woods University in 2011. Craig coached and taught for eleven years at Putnam County R-I schools in Unionville, Missouri before his passing. In his free time he had many interests in which he enjoyed; golf, fishing, coon hunting and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Dana of Unionville, Missouri; children: Teela (Tyler) Becker of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa, Trevor (Maddison) DeVore of Corydon, Iowa, Alexandra (Tyler) Mathews of Des Moines, Iowa, Shaleigh (Tyler) Lewis of Unionville, Missouri, Kylie (Duane) Hill of Leon, Iowa and Callie DeVore of Unionville, Missouri; grandchildren: Elizabeth Shipley, Liam Shuey, Memphis Becker, Brantlee Hill, Luxie Becker, Waylon Becker, Easton Shuey, Trice DeVore, and Brexleigh Hill. He is also survived by his mother, Beulah Devore of rural Seymour, Iowa and brothers: Don (Sherry) DeVore and Duane (Jane) DeVore; sister, Janet (Tom) Lenig; sister-in-law, Jill (Dale) Pence, uncle-in-law, Dr. Jesse Deck, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith DeVore; grandparents: Leonard and Edra DeVore and Emerl and Bessie Fenton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at First Christian Church in Seymour, Iowa. Interment will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour.
