Corinne Valencia's Obituary
Lois Corinne Valencia, 70 of Seymour, passed away Friday January 5, 2018 at Centerville Specialty Care. Corinne was born August 15, 1947 in Wayne County, Iowa. She was the youngest of three children to Walter and Collette (Warren) Wensel. Corinne graduated from Seymour High School with the class of 1965 and later received her paralegal degree while in Phoenix. Corinne was united in marriage to Kenneth McLeod of Indianola on May 30, 1965, the two later divorced. To this marriage one child was born, Michelle (McLeod) McMurry. Corinne was united in marriage to Manuel Valencia on November 20, 1993, the two remained together until Manuel's Death on November 14, 2000. Corinne moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1986 where she was employed by Basha's Grocery Store chain as a produce buyer. In 2015 she moved back to Iowa to be closer to her great grandson. Corinne enjoyed Thursday morning breakfast with the ladies at the Tap Eatery in Seymour. She also enjoyed visiting with the nurses, staff and residents of Centerville Specialty Care. She looked forward to her nail and hair appointments, and spending time with family. Corinne was preceded in death by her husband Manuel Valencia, her parents Walter and Collette Wensel, her sister Georgia Rippee, and her three dogs. Corinne is survived by her daughter Michelle (Tracy) McMurry of Seymour, grandchildren Ashley (Scott) Kaster of Centerville, Brandi McMurry of Ankeny, and great grandson Kydon Kaster of Centerville, life long friend Marilyn (Steve) Knode of Des Moines, her "other kids", as she fondly called them, Sonya (Tom) Swan of Promise City, Caitlyn Babbitt of Ankeny, Rhonda (Eric) Myers and Cooper of Centerville, and numerous loving friends and family. Corinne will be buried in Phoenix, AZ alongside her husband Manuel with a celebration of life in Iowa at a later date.
